What Translatify Does
Translatify is a browser extension that reads lyrics displayed on the Spotify Web Player and translates them into your chosen language using a translation API of your choice. All processing happens locally in your browser.
Data We Collect
We collect nothing.
Translatify has no backend server, no database, and no analytics. The developer (Slyfti) has no access to any data generated by your use of the extension.
Specifically:
- Lyrics: Read from your screen and processed locally. Never sent to our servers (we have none).
- Translations: Sent directly from your browser to your chosen translation provider using your own API key. We never see this traffic.
- API Keys: Stored locally on your device using your browser's built-in storage (chrome.storage / browser.storage). Never transmitted to us.
- Usage data: We collect none. No analytics, no crash reports, no telemetry.
Third-Party Services
When you use Translatify with a translation API, your browser communicates directly with that provider. Translatify acts as a conduit only. You are subject to the privacy policy of whichever translation provider you choose:
- Custom/AI endpoint: Subject to your chosen provider's policy
Local Storage
Translatify stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Your chosen target language
- Your API key (if provided)
- Cached translations (to avoid redundant API calls)
This data never leaves your device and is never accessible to the developer.
Chrome Web Store / Firefox Add-ons
Translatify's store listings state that no user data is collected or shared. This is accurate and verifiable by inspecting the open-source code at github.com/Slyfti/translatify.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Given the nature of the extension (no data collection), meaningful changes are unlikely.
